A Potential Fourth Wing Replacement Comes Out The Same Month As Onyx Storm

Onyx-Storm

A potential Fourth Wing replacement is set to release at the same time as Onyx Storm, giving audiences who love the world-building and characters even more to dive into. Though anticipation for Onyx Storm is high, many audiences who love Rebecca Yarros' novels have been looking for a Fourth Wing replacement as the five-book series is slowly coming to a close. Many already published BookTok books, such as When The Moon Hatched, share similar tropes, with more comparable books seemingly on the way.

Onyx Storm promises many twists and turns as Violet goes beyond Basgiath and Aretia to find new allies and learn more about the venin threat. That being said, many audiences may want more of the academic side of Fourth Wing, even as Violet uses her knowledge as a scribe to find the truth. Interestingly, a book is coming in January 2025 that could not only compete with Onyx Storm but could offer that same fascinating academic twist audiences have loved about this series.

Onyx Storm Will Compete With A Possible Fourth Wing Replacement In January 2025

A Language Of Dragons Is Set To Be Released On January 2, 2025

A Language Of Dragons

A Language Of Dragons by S.F. Williamson could be a possible Fourth Wing replacement and is set to compete with Onyx Storm in January 2025. A Language Of Dragons follows the story of Vivian, a young woman in a version of 1923 London that has been invaded by dragons and has broken out into a civil war. As a linguist, Vivian longs to get an internship studying the dragon's languages, but after tragedy strikes, she takes a mysterious job that rattles everything she knows.

A Language Of Dragons seems to have many unique beats and a harder focus on world-building over romance.

As a Bletchley Park codebreaker, she attempts to help the war effort find the secrets of a hidden dragon language in order to save herself and her family. However, much like Violet in -------Fourth Wing, as she dives deeper, she discovers that not all is as it seems and eventually must choose whose side she is on. A Language Of Dragons seems to have many unique beats and a harder focus on world-building over romance. Despite this, the upcoming novel shares many similarities with Yarros' series, making it great for Onyx Storm readers who want more of Fourth Wing's world-building.

A Language Of Dragons Sounds Great For Readers Who Love Fourth Wing's World-Building

Wiliamson's Novel Shares Fourth Wing's Military Setting And Themes

For audiences who loved Fourth Wing's worldbuilding, A Language Of Dragons sounds like a great book to pick up ahead of Onyx Storm. The novel is meant to be set in the real world, but the initial premise does seem to promise the possibility of a great alternate universe narrative. Adding in these real-world events would make the book's setting easier to fall into, allowing Williamson to invent more intricate details for the novel's worldbuilding. Not only that, but the historic location could help emphasize the themes the book shares with Fourth Wing.

Both series focus on uncovering secrets during wartime in an academic setting, exploring themes of censorship, history, and discovery. While it may not have Fourth Wing's military, A Language Of Dragons will investigate the world of codebreakers and will give audiences that same strict setting as Vivian tries to find the truth without getting caught. Vivian will also seemingly find an enemies-to-lovers romance along the way, like Violet and Xaden. Ultimately, audiences who loved the academic side of the series may find it again in Williamson's novel, as Onyx Storm moves beyond academia and into the battles to come.
